HURTIGRUTEN INTRODUCES ROBUST ROSTER OF SAVINGS, INCLUDING TWO-FOR-ONE CRUISES, FREE STATEROOM UPGRADES AND SENIOR DISCOUNTS FOR BOOKINGS MADE BY JANUARY 31

New York, NY, December 2008 - Hurtigruten is unveiling a broad spectrum of lucrative savings opportunities for travelers who book "Norwegian Coastal Voyage" cruises by January 31, 2009. The roster of offerings includes two-for-one savings, enabling two passengers to sail for the price of one; single cabins at no extra charge; complimentary cabin upgrades; senior saver rates in addition to 25% off the single supplement fare; and 25% discounts off cruise fares with free hotel nights in Bergen. To sweeten the savings pot, travelers can capitalize on these promotions by taking advantage of Hurtigruten's convenient and cost-effective Layaway Getaway plan, enabling them to pay off their vacations in easy monthly payments with no accrued interest.

Following is a roundup of savings opportunities on the company's six-, seven- and 12-day Coastal Voyage sailings:
  • Two Sail for the Price of One - companions sail free on voyages departing in January, February and September through December 2009. Normal cruise fares range from $1,309 to $4,029, per person, double, saving two passengers sharing a cabin $655 to $2,014 each. As an example: booking an outside cabin ("P"-class) on a 12-day roundtrip sailing from Bergen, departing in the first or last two months of the year, would save each passenger sharing a cabin, $1,514 off the normal fare of $3,029 per person, double.
  • Free Upgrades on Select Departures - guests sailing on select voyages departing from January 1 through April 30 and October 1 to December 31 receive free upgrades in certain cabin categories. Example: travelers booking an outside cabin on a seven-day northbound cruise between Bergen and Kirkenes would pay $2,249 per person, double, and can upgrade to a mini suite that costs $2,519, realizing a savings of $270 per person.
  • Single Cabins Without the Supplement, and Upgrades - travelers preferring to sail solo on cruises between January 1 and March 31 and October 1 to December 31 pay the normal double occupancy rate - a savings of 25% off the single rate, and receive complimentary upgrades, where available.
  • 25% Off and Free Hotel Nights in Bergen - guests sailing from May through August are eligible savings of 25% off standard cruise fares. And to sweeten the deal, Hurtigruten is including two free hotel nights in Bergen for those sailing on 12-day itineraries and one free hotel night on six- and seven-day sailings. Normal cruise rates range from $2,059 to $11,189 before savings of $515 to $2,797 per person.
  • Senior Saver Special - a reduced rate is offered to seniors ages 60 and over, booking March or April voyages plus those who book a single capacity cabin receive a 25% discount off the single supplement rate. The reduced rate drops the normal fare by as much as 50% on a 12-day March sailing in a mid-range, outside cabin - from the standard of $3,259 to a range of $1,613 - $2,053 per person, double, depending on the ship. A six-day cruise drops from $1,789 to as low as $886 in the same cabin category during March.
The six-, seven- and 12-day voyages, aboard modern Hurtigruten ships, explore Norway's spectacular fjord-filled, 1,250-mile west coast between the charming Bergen and Kirkenes, close to the Russian border. The itineraries, described in Lonely Planet's "Bluelist" as the "world's most beautiful voyages," feature an array of diverse and charming ports, ranging from fishing villages in the rugged Lofoten Islands to Art Nouveau Alesund and bustling cities like Tromso and Trondheim.

Savings are not available for the top highest suite categories; and are not combinable. The cruises include all meals aboard ship, taxes and port charges. Some restrictions apply; fuel surcharges of $70 to $154 per sailing are additional. Discount percentages can change without notice and are capacity controlled.

Hurtigruten is a world leader in exploration cruising sailing to the most remote of destinations including Antarctica, Greenland and the Arctic's Spitsbergen.
