Wonders never cease on your Baltic tour. Beginning in the imperial Russian city of St. Petersburg you will travel by way of Finland's neoclassical capital, Helsinki, to the Lapland region. Here you will explore Scandinavia's native Sami culture in depth. In Kirkenes, your southbound Norwegian cruise begins, headed for the Hanseatic port of Bergen. Tour Norway's fjord region before riding the spectacular Bergen Railway to intimate, charming Oslo, the country's cosmopolitan capital.


Baltic Tour Departure Dates:  APRIL 1 & 30; MAY 30; JUNE 17; JULY 20; AUGUST 11; SEPTEMBER 2, OCTOBER 1, 2009

Day 1: Depart the U.S.
This evening you will depart on your transatlantic flight to St. Petersburg.

Day 2: Arrive in St. Petersburg
At St. Petersburg airport, you'll be met by your guide, who will accompany and guide you through your expansive Baltic tour. Transfer to your hotel; the rest of the day is yours to enjoy at your leisure. Join us for a welcome drink and dinner with Russian folklore show. [D]

Day 3: St. Petersburg
Enjoy a full-day sightseeing tour of St. Petersburg by motorcoach, with visits to the Peter and Paul Fortress and the Hermitage museum. In the afternoon, visit beautiful Peterhof Palace outside of the city. [B/L/D]

Day 4: St. Petersburg-Helsinki
Today, enjoy another tour of St. Petersburg, including a visit to the onion-domed Church on Spilled Blood. After lunch, transfer to the railway station. Depart by afternoon train to Helsinki. You will have dinner on the train and arrive in Helsinki in the evening for an overnight stay. [B/L/D]

Days 5: Helsinki
Enjoy a guided tour of Helsinki, including a visit to the famous Rock Church. After dinner, board your night train to Rovaniemi. [B/D]

Day 6: Rovaniemi-Ivalo
Arrive in Rovaniemi early in the morning. After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of the town en route to Ivalo, where you visit SIDA to learn about fascinating Sami culture. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Sami dinner. [B/D]

Day 7: Ivalo-Kirkenes/Embarkation
After breakfast, experience the fantastic landscape of northern Finland and Norway on your way to Kirkenes. Mid-morning, you embark on your southbound Norwegian Cruise. [B/L/D]

Days 8-11: The Norwegian Cruise
Over the next few days, you will experience the awe-inspiring Lofoten Islands and Trollfjord, and historical cities Tromso, Trondheim, and Alesund.. [B/L/D]

Day 12 Disembarkation Bergen
Arrive in Bergen this afternoon and enjoy a guided motorcoach tour of this Hanseatic city. Enjoy an evening to explore on your own.[B/L]

Day 13: Bergen-Flam-Ulvik
After breakfast, drive by motorcoach past waterfalls and lakes to Stalheim. There, you descend the hairpin turns of its canyon road through Naeroydal valley to Gudvangen, for a ferry cruise on the Sognefjord. Lunch in the charming village of Flam. Board the Flam Railway for a scenic ride high up the mountains to Myrdal station. Transfer to the Bergen Railway for another thrilling ride to Voss; proceed by motorcoach to the village of Ulvik. [B/D]

Day 14: Ulvik-Oslo
Continue to Bruravik, take a ferry across the Hardangerfjord to Brimnes. Drive along the Eidsfjord, ascend through tunnels and around hairpin turns to Fossli. See the Voeringfoss waterfall. Drive along the Hardangervidda mountain plateau, through the Hallingdal valley, to Hadeland Glassworks. Then, it's on to Oslo. [B]

Day 15: Oslo
After breakfast, you will take a guided tour of this charming capital. You will have the afternoon free. In the evening enjoy a Farewell dinner. [B/D]

Day 16: Depart Oslo. Arrive in the U.S.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight home. [B]
